AFY is dedicated to creating programs and advocating for policies that help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive health.

AFY's Program in Action

AFY is funded to provide Capacity-Building Assistance for Preventing HIV Infections: Organizations that Serve African American and Latina Females.

  • Providing information and technical assistance to at least 20 youth-serving organizations to build their capacity to develop and implement culturally appropriate, science-based HIV prevention programs for young African American and Latina women.
     
  • Providing on-site tailored training, intensive technical assistance, and financial support to five youth-serving organizations to implement culturally appropriate, science-based HIV prevention programming for young African American and Latina women.
     
  • Implementing a peer education institute for nine young African American and Latina women on culturally relevant, science-based peer education programs to prevent HIV infection.
     
  • Partnering with at least 10 media outlets, including Black Entertainment Network, to include HIV prevention messages within their entertainment and information programming.
