The Center and Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP) provides direction and coordination for USDA''s nutrition research and policy activities. The Center, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and other USDA agencies, publishes the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The Dietary Guidelines are the basis for the nation's nutrition policy, and the foundation for all Federal nutrition education and promotion efforts. CNPP also developed and promotes the MyPyramid food guidance system, which motivates behavior changes consistent with the Guidelines. In addition the Center publishes the Thrifty Food Plan, the Nutrient Content of the U.S. Food Supply and the annual report on Expenditures on Children by Families.
