On November 13, 2000, President Clinton signed a Presidential
Proclamation of International Education
Week, 2000.
International Education Week will provide a global forum for
promoting and celebrating the benefits of international education. This
exciting initiative is a highly visible component of President Clinton's
new International Education policy to prepare Americans for a global
environment and to attract and educate future leaders from abroad to
the United States.
A wide range of public and private-sector institutions and partners,
including colleges and universities; primary and secondary schools;
the diplomatic corps and international organizations; and businesses,
NGOs and international organizations will create and take part in activities
designed to celebrate and promote international education and mutual
understanding worldwide.
Below you will find resources designed to assist in planning and implementing
your own International Education Week activities. The List of Suggested
Activities is a collection of possible programming ideas that could
be implemented at the local and national levels. Intended to seed your
creativity, this list reflects just a sampling of the types of activities
that will take place in November.
