friendly page] Kalama Resident Sentenced to 15 Years for Drug Conspiracy SEP 16 -- (Seattle) – DEA Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Arnold R. Moorin and the United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington, Jeffrey Sullivan, announced that on September 11, 2008, Lauro Aguilar-Canche, 31, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. The sentencing resolves two separate federal cases in Washington and Nebraska. In October 2005, Aguilar-Canche was arrested and charged federally in Nebraska when the vehicle he was driving was found to have a hidden compartment containing large amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine. Aguilar-Canche was released on bond and was allowed to return to Washington pending trial. While still on bond in the Nebraska case, Aguilar-Canche continued to engage in drug trafficking in Washington. On June 1, 2006, he was arrested in his Kalama, Washington apartment and was wearing the electronic monitoring ankle bracelet from Nebraska. At the time of his arrest, a search of Aguilar-Canche’s apartment uncovered cocaine, methamphetamine and cash. Aguilar-Canche is the last ten defendants sentenced in “Operation Garage Sale”. This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Tacoma Police Department, Thurston County Narcotics Task Force and the Washington State Patrol.
