Statement on U.N. Security Council Presidential Statement on IranSecretary Condoleezza RiceWashington, DC March 29, 2006
The adoption today by the U.N. Security Council of a Presidential Statement on Iran is an important diplomatic step. It demonstrates that the international community is united in its concern over Iran’s nuclear program. Iran is more isolated now than ever. The Security Council’s Presidential Statement sends an unmistakable message to Iran that its efforts to conceal its nuclear program and evade its international obligations are unacceptable. The international community expects Iran to comply with the IAEA’s call to suspend all enrichment-related activity and to return to negotiations. I look forward to my discussions with our P-5 partners and Germany tomorrow in Berlin to explore further action on Iran. 2/006/324 Released on March 29, 2006 |
