Securing an Energy Independent Future PDF Print

enviro6.jpgCongresswoman Matsui is a strong proponent for securing energy independence.  First, she believes we must decrease our dependence on foreign oil.  We must also end the tax breaks for Big Oil.  The record-breaking profits of the oil companies while hard-working Americans suffer are an abomination.  There is a very real need to diversify our resources and institute tax credits for alternative energy development.

Sacramento is positioned to be one of the greenest cities in America, a feat that points to the region's dedication to new, cleaner energy sources.  Congresswoman Matsui believes that we need a responsible cap and trade system, and that we must invest in clean technologies.  Only by reducing our dependence on foreign oil, creating more incentives for citizens to lead "green" lifestyles, and building the clean energy sector can we achieve energy independence.  Congresswoman Matsui is strong supporter of Sacramento's environmentally-friendly mass transit, including alternative transportation methods like Sacramento's light rail.
