CSREES Administrator Hefferan Delivers Keynote Address at European Conference
CSREES Administrator Colien Hefferan delivered a keynote address at the Third Economics Commission for Europe (ECE) Regional Implementation Meeting on Sustainable Development, in Geneva, Switzerland, January 28, 2008. Representatives of the European Commission, FAO, and the Swedish Farmers Association also delivered keynotes.
The ECE hosted the meeting to prepare for the upcoming UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) meeting in May 2008. It will address agriculture and rural development, land management, drought and desertification, and Africa.
While in Geneva, Dr. Hefferan spoke with a number of members of non-governmental organizations concerning ECE initiatives, including Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (SARD).
