The House Natural Resources Committee, Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife and Oceans, led by Del. Madeleine Z. Bordallo (D-GU), will meet in an open markup session to mark up the following bills:

  • H.R. 1464 (Udall): To assist in the conservation of rare felids and rare canids by supporting and providing financial resources for the conservation programs of nations within the range of rare felid and rare canid populations and projects of persons with demonstrated expertise in the conservation of rare felid and rare canid populations. (Great Cats and Rare Canids Act of 2007)

  • H.R. 1771 (Baldwin): To assist in the conservation of cranes by supporting and providing, through projects of persons and organizations with expertise in crane conservation, financial resources for the conservation programs of countries the activities of which directly or indirectly affect cranes and the ecosystems of cranes. (Crane Conservation Act of 2007)

The Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife and Oceans met in open markup session on Thursday, October 4, 2007, and considered the following bills:


H.R. 1464
(Udall): To assist in the conservation of rare felids and rare canids by supporting and providing financial resources for the conservation programs of nations within the range of rare felid and rare canid populations and projects of persons with demonstrated expertise in the conservation of rare felid and rare canid populations, the "Great Cats and Rare Canids Act of 2007."


An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute offered by Mr. Brown was agreed to by voice vote.

Forwarded to Full Committee, as amended, by voice vote.


H.R. 1771 (Baldwin): To assist in the conservation of cranes by supporting and providing, through projects of persons and organizations with expertise in crane conservation, financial resources for the conservation programs of countries the activities of which directly or indirectly affect cranes and the ecosystems of cranes, the "Crane Conservation Act of 2007."

An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute offered by Mr. Kind was agreed to by voice vote.
