StormReady
is a program designed to encourage communities to take a proactive approach to improving
local hazardous weather operations. The goal is to better prepare communities for severe
weather so that life and property may be better protected. On May 7, 2001...Hot Springs
and Garland County, Arkansas became the first StormReady communities in the Little Rock County Warning Area. |

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held in Hot Springs to celebrate the
StormReady achievement. Attendees were mostly from local and state government, the
Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM) and the National Weather Service in
Little Rock. |

Road signs were put on display at the ribbon cutting ceremony to promote
the StormReady status. The signs will be posted throughout Garland County. |
