Crane and Derrick Negotiated Rulemaking Committee
to Meet in Washington, Oct. 1-3

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Crane and Derrick Negotiated Rulemaking Committee (C-DAC) will hold its third public meeting in Washington, D.C., Oct. 1-3.

The committee will meet in conference room N3437 A,B, and C at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. The meeting will begin each day at 8:30 a.m.

The third meeting of C-DAC will include the committee's review of draft regulatory text and summary notes of the second meeting. In addition, the committee will continue to address substantive issues.

The committee is chartered to function as a part of OSHA's rulemaking process to revise the existing standards for cranes and derricks in construction. Members of the committee will identify key issues, evaluate their importance, analyze the information necessary to resolve the issues, and work to reach a consensus on the coverage and the substance of a recommendation. If the committee reaches a consensus, the recommendation on proposed regulatory language will be submitted to the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health and then be published for public comment.

Notice of the C-DAC meeting is scheduled to appear in the Sept. 15 Federal Register. Written comments to the committee may be submitted to the OSHA Docket Office, Docket No. S-030, Room N-2625, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. Comments may also be submitted via fax by calling (202) 693-2350, or electronically to http://ecomments.osha.gov.
