On the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and the day before the opening of the U.N. General Assembly, Dr. Coburn adressed the Hudson Institute Conferece, "The U.N. and Beyond: United Democratic Nations." Joining Senator Coleman, author and human rights champion Natan Sharansky, investigative journalist Claudia Rosett, and U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton, Dr. Coburn spoke of the urgent need for financial transparency, accountability, and reform
In his speech, Dr. Coburn said, "How money is spent matters when we’re talking about the U.N. because the U.N. is in places where life and death are on the line. Where the U.N. operates can make the difference between anarchy and order; between freedom and oppression; between slaughter and shelter."
