LIEBERMAN HIRES LEAD INVESTIGATOR

WASHINGTON – Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Ranking Member Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., today announced the appointment of Robert F. Muse as lead Democratic investigator for the Committee’s inquiry into the preparedness for and response to Hurricane Katrina.

Muse, a partner at the Washington D.C, law firm Stein, Mitchell & Mezines for the last 20 years, has an extensive background in criminal defense law and civil litigation. He is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, is an adjunct law professor at Georgetown University Law Center, and has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America.

“We are fortunate that Bob has agreed to lead our team in investigating the wholly inadequate response - at all levels of government - to the Gulf Coast wreckage caused by Hurricane Katrina. Bob is a fair-minded, clear-thinking attorney whose background and disposition are well suited to serve the Committee – and the American people – with distinction. I welcome him aboard.”

Before joining Stein, Mitchell & Mezines, Muse was a staff attorney with the D.C. Public Defender Service. He also served as assistant counsel for the Select Committee on Presidential Campaign Activities of the Senate Watergate Committee, and clerked for the Honorable Frank J. Murray of the U.S. District Court in Boston. Muse received a B.S. from Boston University in 1969 and his law degree from Georgetown Law Center in 1972. He is the father of three boys.
