US 285, Mile Marker 2

Title: US 285, coming out of NM into Texas at Orla and also the intersection of 302 west of Mentone has weight restrictions.
Description: US 285 going into Texas has weight restrictions at two large concrete box culverts. Both culverts are between the intersection of Highway 652 at Orla and the intersection of Highway 302 west of Mentone near Mile Markers 334 and 339. Trucks with loads above 11,000 pounds per axle up to the legal limit should find an alternate route. Oversize-overweight vehicles, which require permits, will be diverted to alternate highways by the TxDOT route permit. Truckers can call the TxDOT Permit Office 432-498-4718 if they exceed the posted weight limit for these box culverts and are seeking recommendations for an alternate route. Cars, pickups and light trucks will not be affected by this restriction. This restriction will remain in effect until repairs can be completed in approximately 12 months. (dh)

Project is from mile marker 162.14 to 163.75 • Tonight Wednesday 9/17 from 9pm to 5am - I40 Eastbound from San Mateo to Louisiana will have the 2 right lanes closed. • Wednesday 9/17 through Friday 9/19 from 10pm to 5am each evening – I40 westbound from Louisiana to San Mateo will have the 2 right lanes closed. • Ongoing until further notice – I40 westbound from Wyoming to San Mateo will be reduced to 3 lanes. Watch for merging traffic and reduce your speed. Through traffic keep left. • Ongoing and until further notice – I40 eastbound from San Mateo to Louisiana will be reduced to 2 lanes through the project and the San Mateo onramp to eastbound I40 will be closed. US 82, Mile Marker 4 to Mile Marker 9 Eastbound and Westbound

Description: Contractor AUI, Inc. is working on the US82 Rockfall Mitigation Project on US 82 from MP 4 to MP 8.3. Please be aware that there will be two construction activities operating on the project as we finalize our work in the month of October. Speed limits will continue to be 35 mph through the construction zones as a safety measure for us and the traveling public. Please watch your travel speeds, heed construction signage, and flagging operations through these areas. We will utilize colored concrete to complete the barrier wall construction on the West side of the tunnel. We will use this same material as we construct the sidewalks and curbs at the visitor pull-out area. Final work in this area will consist of constructing handicap parking and access areas and new asphalt pavement. Please allow an additional 15-20 minutes in your travel schedule to accommodate these construction activities. Remember construction zones are “double fine” zones. Due to narrow lanes through the construction zone, vehicles over 10 ft. 0 in. width are prohibited from utilizing this US 82 corridor. This restriction was effective April 2008 and will remain in place through November 2008. For reroute information, please contact the NMDOT Oversized Permits Department at (505) 827-0376.
