Mission
of the Office (W/OPS)

  • Manages operational systems and provides engineering software management, facilities, communications, and logistical services.

  • It develops policy for implementation, operations, support, and evaluation of operational weather systems.

  • Resource Management Staff


    • Formulates and executes Office operating budget
    • Manages administration of Office operations (e.g. performance plans, training, awards, inventory)


This office has four divisions to support and manage major field activities. The first division in the office is a headquarters division and the remainder are field level operational centers. These divisions sustain the field logistics & acquisition activities, the upper air program, the AWIPS program change and implementations, NEXRAD management, surface ASOS operational management and upgrade implementations, the management of the NWS marine buoy programs, and the NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards program.
