Charity Care - New Jersey Hospital Care Payment Assistance Program

This office administers the New Jersey Hospital Care Payment Assistance Program (Charity Care) for people who are uninsured and underinsured. Staff are available to the public and to hospital staff members with questions about the charity care program, its implementation, and interpretation of program regulations and policy. Fact sheets describing the program and contact information such as an 800 # helpline, email address, and mailing address - for program assistance and to report suspicions of fraud - are posted below. This office oversees the annual hospital subsidy - distribution, calculation and source data - including electronic claims processing, audits and reports.

  • To report any suspicion of fraud or fiscal abuse by an individual or a hospital in the Charity Care Program, you may submit an anonymous or signed report to any of the below listed contact points. Please include as much detailed information as possible regarding the identity and circumstances of the individuals and hospitals involved in the suspected fraud.
