Understanding the Agricultural Health Study summarizes the first 12 years of the Agricultural Health Study, a long-term, ongoing study of 90,000 Iowa and North Carolina certified pesticide applicators and farm families led by researchers from the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Understanding the Agricultural Health Study was developed for the agricultural community and Extension pesticide safety educators.
The information summarized in Understanding the Agricultural Health Study represents the major pesticide exposure and health findings published by Agricultural Health Study scientists as of July 2004. For study findings published after July 2004 and news of study activities, visit www.aghealth.org, the official web site of the Agricultural Health Study.
Understanding the Agricultural Health Study was developed through a collaboration of Extension educators from North Carolina State University and Iowa State University and Agricultural Health Study scientists. It was funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health through the Southern Coastal Agromedicine Center of the North Carolina Agromedicine Institute.
