An effective role of comprehensive health care services under the managment politics for PLWHA's.

Issue: To bring changes in the policies of the Public Health system by the grass root level workers. There is a greater need for HIV infected women to come together and raise the issues. Description: Prostitution is highly stigmatised with HIV infection, T.B., denial of basic rights, sexually transmitted diseases, gyneac, peadiatric problems have worsen the life conditions of women in prostitution. A comprehensive health care services unit which provides treatment for STD's, T.B., Gyneac, Peadiatric, General and Supportive treatment for HIV infection. The social work approach for Community Mobilisation. Counselling Services, Condom Promotion, Nutrition, Child prostitution, Networking with NGOs, Ration Cards and Bank Accounts to women in prostitution, Training with different innovative approaches has been the work strategy. This programme has reached out to 10,000 women in prostitution. 20 women form the community work as the partners in the project, who address the issues on day to day basis, which helps women to cope with their sufferings. Conclusion: People still do not have access to health information. HIV infected people do not have enough support and care centres. Advocating on this issue is really not getting through, to have good care programme for women PLWHA's. Women in prostitution have incredible coping mechanisms while dealing with their problems. With the right training even the illiterate women can be very efficient in imparting the knowledge on HIV/AIDS & mobilise the community.
