NIH eSubmission Items of Interest — May 25, 2007

Viewing Window

We received quite a bit of feedback regarding the fact that the Memorial Day holiday is included in the 2 weekday application viewing window.  As a result, we are going to try something new and NOT include Memorial Day, (Monday, May 28th) in the 2 weekday viewing window for applicants.  (We will review the impact of this change in consideration of the Independence Day holiday on July 4th.)

We will be ‘turning off’ the system’s auto-forwarding process tonight.  Those of you who submitted applications after Wednesday of this week will see a delay in your applications being forwarded to the Division of Receipt and Referral until midnight, Tuesday, May 29th.  The eRA Commons system and the application images will be available for viewing on the holidays if anyone chooses to do so.

Here are a couple sample scenarios:

Error-free applications generated on Friday, May 25th, will not automatically move forward to Receipt and Referral until midnight Tuesday, May 29th.

Error-free applications generated on Monday, May 28th, will not automatically move forward to Receipt and Referral until midnight Wednesday, May 30th.

Transition to Adobe Forms – Not through end of July

For those of you that are concerned about NIH deadlines through the month of July, NIH will not be using the Adobe Forms for any submission dates on or before the end of July.  We are still waiting to test forms and have not finalized the transition plans.  As soon as full migration plans are finalized, they will be distributed through the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts, the eSubmission listservs, and in presentations.

Relax and have a safe, fun holiday!
