In the September 15th edition of Roll Call, Max Stier, the president and CEO of the Partnership for Public Service and Howard Paster, who was responsible for the confirmation of the Cabinet and sub-Cabinet in 1993 and who served as President Clinton’s first director of legislative affairs, advise the U.S. Senate on the four things they should do to ensure our nation’s next leadership team is in place and prepared to govern.
The war for talent is hitting the federal government hard, as more than one-third of the full-time permanent federal workforce gets ready to retire or leave in the next five years. To help address these critical talent needs, the Partnership for Public Service has launched the FedExperience pilot program with the U.S. Department of Treasury and IBM to match government's critical hiring needs with the talents of experienced, older workers.
In the July 17th edition of the Wall Street Journal, Max Stier, the president and CEO of the Partnership for Public Service, and Gary Ginsberg, an executive vice president of News Corp. who served on the Clinton transition team in 1992, advise presidential candidates on three things they should do to ensure the next presidency gets off to the right start.
Max Stier also discussed the challenges the presidential candidates face during the time of transition on The Kojo Nnamdi Show.
The Partnership is currently seeking a Development Associate, a Program Associate for Government Transformation, a Program Associate for Communications, and a Senior Program Manager for the Annenberg Speakers Bureau.
The Partnership for Public Service released the following statement in response to the resignation of Linda Springer, Director, U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
“The Partnership is extremely grateful to Linda Springer for her dedicated service in a critical position at a critical time. Her leadership and vision have been indispensable to our government as it confronts a wave of retirements, a war for talent and increasing responsibilities in a global economy.” — Max Stier, President and CEO, Partnership for Public Service
On June 24, the Partnership hosted its fifth New York City gala at Manhattan landmark Cipriani’s 42nd Street. The gala brought together more than 700 government leaders, business executives and stakeholders from the entertainment and nonprofit sectors to demonstrate their support for a vital federal government. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Theodore Roosevelt Award for the Advancement of Public Service to New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
On June 18, the Partnership hosted a Capitol Hill breakfast in Washington, D.C., to announce 29 finalists whose work represents the important contributions of all federal employees for the good of our nation and the global community. The finalists – chosen from nearly 500 nominations – represent two dozen federal agencies and hail from ten states, plus Washington, D.C., and Jerusalem, Israel.
The Partnership for Public Service works to revitalize our federal government by inspiring a new generation to serve and by transforming the way government works.
The federal government must do a better job integrating new employees into the workplace according to a recent report from the Partnership and management experts at Booz Allen.
