WELCOME
to the Meteorology Library at the National Weather Service in
Nashville.
This library is a cooperative
effort between the National Weather Service, various government
departments and agencies, as well as a number of universities
and colleges from across the United States.
It is a topical library,
which means that internet links are organized by specific topic
(via webpages) rather than by general area of interest (via website
homepages). It is also set up in syllabus form to facilitate a
structured learning environment. To begin your information search
or meteorology tutorial you should go to the Table
of Contents.
Our vision for this library
is to provide quick access to a wide variety of sources, and help
make it easy for you to find an answer to your meteorological
question(s) and/or to learn the basics of meteorology.
Where possible, we have elicited
the support of the providers of information in our library to
make a good faith effort to keep us informed of changes to their
internet webpage addresses. In doing so, we hope to keep our web
links as reliable as possible. Of course, this does not mean that
some links will not be temporarily unavailable from time to time,
and you should keep this in mind when using these materials. If
you run into this problem, just look at it as if someone has already
checked the book out of the library, and come back and give it
another try later. On the other hand, if you find a link which
is down for more than 3 or 4 days, please e-mail us.
We are pleased to announce
that our meteorological library has received the SciLinks Seal
of Approval, from the National Science Teachers
Association (NSTA). A team of teachers, associated with
NSTA, reviewed this library and found the materials on our educational
webpages to have accurate content and effective pedagogy. The
certificate, explaining the significance of this selection, can
be found by clicking on the icon below. To view portions of the
NSTA'a letter to our office click here.
