Governmentwide Acquisition Management Intern Program
The Governmentwide Acquisition Management Intern program is a two-year program designed to employ Contract Specialists and to develop them into procurement professionals and government leaders of the future. The program is administered through the Department of the Interior University.

Interns receive technical and business skills training including contract administration, procurement analysis, customer service, project management, and presentation skills. Interns complete four six-month rotational assignments in sponsoring Federal departments and agencies. Upon completion of the two-year training program, interns will be placed in a position at one of the sponsoring agencies. Agencies that participated in 2006 include Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Department of the Interior, Department of Commerce, and Department of Health and Human Services

Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP)
The STEP program is a student summer and holiday employment program which exposes college students to the acquisition field, including administrative functions, customer relations experience, and procurement-related duties. The STEP interns gain valuable experience in working in a Federal service environment on a regular basis and can apply the academic disciplines to their daily work. Prime candidates for PMF are individuals who have an interest and commitment to a career in government and in the analysis and management of public policies and programs. By drawing graduate students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, the PMF program provides a continuing stream of trained men and women to meet the future challenges of public service.

PMF candidates are screened by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and finalists are invited to participate. Go to the OPM website to learn more.
