Senator John Kerry, a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will visit Northern Ireland on March 5 to deliver a keynote lecture at the University of Ulster.
Kerry’s speech will focus on “Security in the 21st Century” and is part of the Tip O’Neill series of peace lectures.
Kerry was invited to speak by Professor John Hume, holder of the Tip O’Neill Chair in Peace Studies at the University. The Tip O’Neill Chair, funded by the Ireland Funds, commemorates the former Speaker of the House who was well known for his support of the peace process in Northern Ireland.
Others to have delivered lectures in the series include former President Bill Clinton, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, President of the European Commission Romano Prodi, and former Taoiseach Garret FitzGerald.
