#738Advanced QVR Training-Understanding and using the CRISP/RCDC Search Feature

Description:
With the implementation of RCDC, the CRISP coding of all awarded grants has been discontinued. Starting in FY 2008, CRISP coding has been effectively replaced by the RCDC scientific concept associations generated as a result of creating the RCDC project fingerprints. These concepts are the functional equivalent of CRISP terms. Note that RCDC Concepts have already been generated for all awards in FY 2006, 2007 and 2008.

QVR now provides a single, combined search criterion that allows for the retrieval of grants matching specified CRISP Terms, or RCDC Concepts, or both. The CRISP/RCDC Concepts feature is deployed in a production "beta" status in the QVR system. The purpose of this training class is to provide information on the use of this new feature. The primary focus will be on using the "CRISP/RCDC Concepts" search feature but there will be discuss of the use of the "RCDC Category" search as well as the "Text" search features.

This class will be presented in two parts:
  • The first part will be a presentation on the features of the CRISP and RCDC of QVR. This will include examples of both the basic and advanced features.

  • The second part of the class will be a hands-on session in which participants will be given a series of basic and advanced exercises to practice using the CRISP/RCDC, RCDC Categories and Text search features.

Class participants are encouraged to logon to the QVR System at the URL below and explore the QVR Homepage which contains useful information about the system.

PLEASE remember to bring your IMPAC user name and password to the class for the hands-on session.
