Air Pollution Control Technology Center
Diesel Engine Retrofit Emissions Control Technologies
This center is soliciting vendors and collaborators for verification testing of retrofit technologies that control emissions of particulate matter, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, or carbon monoxide from heavy-duty diesel engines. Technologies include add-on devices such as exhaust catalysts and particulate matter filters, engine modifications, selective catalytic reduction systems, fuel modifications and reformulations, alternative fuels, and lubricants used on mobile diesel engines and some categories of stationary engines. Verification of these technologies, when used to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, is of interest to Texas’s New Technology Research and Development (NTRD) program, as well as others.

Contact: Rudy Smaling, Houston Advanced Research Center (281) 364-4036
Drew Trenholm, RTI (919) 316-3742

Fabric Filter Media
The center is soliciting vendors and collaborators for verification testing of filter media used in baghouses to control fine particulate matter.

Contact: Drew Trenholm, RTI (919) 316-3742

Ventilation Air Cleaning or Filtration Technologies
The center is soliciting vendors and collaborators for verification testing of products for cleaning or filtering ventilation air. Verifications can include ASHRAE 52.2-type efficiency testing for particles from 0.3 to 10 microns, efficiency testing for particles from 0.03 to 10 microns, and efficiency testing for bioaerosols (fungi, bacteria, and viruses).

Drinking Water Systems Center
Drinking Water Treatment Technologies
The center is soliciting vendors and collaborators for verification testing of technologies to assist in compliance with the Long-Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule and the Ground Water Rule. Examples of technologies that may be applicable include membrane filtration, ultraviolet radiation, and on-site chlorine generators. All alternative technologies will be considered. A Web cast on the testing requirements for membranes under the Long-Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule and the Ground Water Rule is available upon request. Web casts on arsenic treatment, emergency response, water protection, and treatment technologies are also available.

Greenhouse Gas Technology Center
Distributed Electrical Generation and Combined Heating/Cooling and Power Technologies
The center is soliciting vendors and collaborators for verification testing of technologies associated with distributed electrical generation (i.e., fuel cells, Stirling engines, reciprocating engines), including combined heating/cooling and power applications (e.g., waste heat recovery for space heating, water heating, chillers/refrigeration, dehumidification, etc.) utilizing various fuels (natural gas, hydrogen, biofuels, etc.).

Contact: Bill Chatterton, Southern Research (919) 282-1057

Fuel Efficient Technologies for Heavy and Light Duty Vehicles
The center is soliciting vendors and collaborators for verification testing of fuel-efficient technologies for heavy and light duty vehicles. These technologies include hybrids, engine and driveline lubricants, novel transmissions (CVTs and others), idle reduction, and other technologies that reduce fuel consumption.

Contact: Jeff Barghout, Southern Research (919) 282-1065

Hydrogen Technologies
The center is soliciting vendors and collaborators for verification testing of hydrogen infrastructure technologies, including hydrogen generation reforming technologies; end-use applications, including fuel cells and engines; storage technologies; and hydrogen safety technologies (e.g., leak detection systems for refueling stations, etc.). Technologies may be either stationary or mobile.

Contact: Jeff Barghout, Southern Research (919) 282-1065

Sustainable and Renewable Energy Technologies
The center is soliciting vendors and collaborators for verification testing of advanced energy technologies that produce or use sustainable or renewable energy sources. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: technologies for production and/or cleaning of biofuels from wastes, biomass, or agricultural processes; technologies that utilize biofuels from wastes, biomass, or agricultural processes to produce electric or mechanical power or provide heat for various end uses; novel, economical solar energy technologies, including photovoltaics for production of hydrogen; and small scale geothermal technologies.
