September 3 — Memorial Fund Honors Volunteers at Annual Luncheon Vietnam Veterans Memorial volunteer Allen McCabe and all of the individuals who volunteer their time at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be honored at the annual Libby Hatch Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Sept. 6. August 14 — Jan Scruggs to Address Thousands at VFW Convention Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund Founder and President Jan C. Scruggs will speak at the 109th annual convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, being held in Orlando, Fla., on Aug. 16-21. More than 10,000 VFW members are expected to attend the convention. Read the Release
August 5 — Scruggs to Address Veterans at 7th Cavalry Reunion Jan C. Scruggs, founder and president of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, will address a reunion of members of the 2nd Battalion of the 7th Cavalry, part of the First Cavalry Airmobile, 1965-71, on Aug. 23 at 9 a.m. at the Cool Springs Marriott in Franklin, Tennessee. July 31 — Boeing Increases Support for Memorial Center to $1 Million The Boeing Company has increased its support of the building of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Center on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to $1 million. Boeing had previously given $500,000 to the effort. Read the Release
July 31 — Community Center to be Dedicated in Vietnam A cultural community center and preschool complex will be dedicated in Ha Bac Village in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam. Built for the Van Kieu ethnic minority tribe through the efforts of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and two American donors, the community center will host mine-risk education and training seminars in addition to income-generation and health care workshops for the residents of central Vietnam. July 30 — Delegates Visit Project RENEW™ Over Two Days in Quang Tri Province The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund’s delegation to Vietnam will spend two days in Quang Tri Province seeing the various mine-action and humanitarian programs set up under Project RENEW™. These two days are part of a 10-day delegation to Vietnam that begins on August 1. Read the Release
July 29 — Vietnam Veterans, Family Members and Educators Return to Vietnam Fifteen individuals, including five veterans and three widows of veterans, will join the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund for the 2008 delegation to Vietnam on Aug. 1-10. This year’s delegation will be co-hosted by Memorial Fund founder and president Jan C. Scruggs and former U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Michael W. Marine. Read the Release
July 17 — TVTN Conference To Conclude With Ceremony at The Wall Teachers from around the country will gather at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, for a remembrance ceremony that will conclude the Teach Vietnam Teachers Network National Conference, said Jan C.
