June 2008 Weather in Review
The current drought increased across South Central Texas in
June of 2008, as the dryness intensified. May and June,
usaully the wettest months of the year, turned out very
dry this year. Since September 2007, the area has received
much below normal rainfall. The dryness in June of 2008 was
enhanced by stronger than usual winds; continued dryness since September
of 2007; the high June sun with less than usual cloud cover to increase
evaporation; and the much above normal temperatures.
