WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation announces a Full Committee hearing onMarine Protected Areas: Federal and State Efforts to Conserve, Manage, and Restore Marine Resourcesscheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at 10:00 a.m.
This hearing will focus on Federal and state efforts to designate marine protected areas for the conservation, management, and restoration of natural and cultural resources. Specifically, the hearing will examine Federal authorities to protect the marine environment, including the National Marine Sanctuary System, and public participation in planning and management of marine protected areas.
