FUGITIVE FROM DALLAS WANTED FOR THE SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A SEVEN YEAR OLD ARRESTED IN NEW ORLEANS BY U.S. MARSHALS FUGITIVE TASK FORCE

On August 12, 2008, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the U.S. Marshals Service E/LA Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force (CSFTF) arrested Marko Tavizon in the 5500 block of Burgundy Street, New Orleans, Louisiana. Dallas County investigators allege that Tavizon, 34, sexually assaulted a seven year old female child in June of this year. Due to the age of the victim, Tavizon was charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Juvenile.

Dallas County obtained an arrest warrant for Tavizon on August 6, 2008, and referred the case to the U.S. Marshals Dallas/Fort Worth Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team. Investigators developed information Tavizon was in the New Orleans Metro area and referred the case to the Crescent Star Fugitive Task Force. Deputies in New Orleans responded immediately to the lead, and soon discovered Tavizon was working as a contractor in the area. He was apprehended without incident at a work site. Tavizon was booked into the Orleans Parish Prison on the above mentioned charges where he awaits extradition to Texas.

U.S. Marshal Michael Credo stated, “this case exemplifies the tireless efforts of our agency in taking alleged sexual predators off the streets before they can affect another child’s life ”.

The U.S. Marshals Service - Eastern District of Louisiana (EDLA) sponsored CSFTF established itself in 1999 and is currently receiving extra support from the U.S. Attorney General and U.S. Department of Justice to fight post Hurricane Katrina violent crime and locate sexual predators in the New Orleans metro area.
