The U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force adopted the case, and on April 24, 2008 developed information that Cook was in Madison County, Florida. Task Force members traveled to Madison County, and with the assistance of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol established a surveillance of a residence. At
approximately 8:30pm, a vehicle departed the residence and was followed by the surveillance team. The vehicle stopped at the Fast Stop Convenience Store located at the corner of Duval and Millinor Streets in Madison County a short time later.
