TSA officers and staff who were deployed to New Orleans to help passengers evacuate in advance of Gustav are returning today to prepare for the resumption of commercial service at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The first flights are scheduled to depart tomorrow morning.

For their own safety, members of the deployment force were evacuated to Dallas after the last passengers were screened Sunday evening.

The returning team includes 135 transportation security officers who will operate the airport's checkpoints and remain in place until local TSA New Orleans personnel return to work later in the week. Federal air marshals will also be on site to support security operations at the airport.
