U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE DIRECTOR SHAREE M. FREEMAN WILL SPEAK AND INTRODUCE FORMER NEW HAMPSHIRE GOVERNOR JOHN H. SUNUNU AS KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT MLK, JR. DINNER OF NEW HAMPSHIRE CULTURAL DIVERSITY AWARENESS COUNCIL IN MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE

      WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On January 21, 2002, U.S. Department of Justice, Community Relations Service (CRS) Director Sharee M. Freeman, a Senate confirmed presidential appointee, will speak and introduce former New Hampshire Governor John H. Sununu. Sununu will deliver the keynote address for the first annual Martin Luther King Day dinner celebration of the New Hampshire Cultural Diversity Awareness Council in Manchester, New Hampshire. Ms. Freeman, who will bring greetings from President George W. Bush and Attorney General John Ashcroft, is one of many who comprise the diverse mix of candidates appointed by President Bush to serve in his administration. The dinner will be held at the Holiday Inn Center of New Hampshire in Manchester.

      "Almost 39 years ago a great American marched on Washington to eradicate apartheid in America. We have come together as one big family to celebrate his birthday and his enduring legacy of equality for all. His name was Martin Luther King, Jr. Let us not forget the impact he has had on our lives. This one man led a movement to change the course of history with respect to the everyday lives of Americans of color, and the lives of all Americans. Let us be the manifestation of the true meaning of his dream, that this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of it creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal,'" said CRS Director Sharee M. Freeman.
