Committees
Much of the work that goes into crafting laws and overseeing government operations takes place in committees. I chose to be on the following committees because I believe education and good jobs are keys to America's future prosperity, and open, honest government is the foundation of our democracy.
The Committee on Education and Labor is responsible for all federal matters pertaining to education-- from Head Start and preschool to No Child Left Behind to College affordability-- and the work place-- including wages, safety, and organized labor. The committee will be key as America looks to innovate and remain competitive in the 21st century's increasingly globalizing economy.
- Subcommittee on Higher Education, Lifelong Learning, and Competitiveness
- Subcommittee on Healthy Families and Communities
The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is the main investigative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. It has jurisdiction to investigate any federal program and any matter with federal policy implications.
- Subcommittee on National Security and Foreign Affairs
- Subcommittee on Information Policy, Census, and National Archives
