African Union Response to the Crisis in the Comoros

The United States commends the African Union for applying sanctions against unconstitutional authorities on the Comoran island of Anjouan in order to restore democracy. We fully support the Union of the Comoros and the African Union in their joint efforts to promote free and fair elections on Anjouan as soon as possible, and call on unconstitutional authorities of Anjouan to cooperate fully with the African Union in this regard.
