The U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Educational Opportunities Section seeks volunteer law interns for its spring, summer and fall intern programs.
The Section, on behalf of the United States, enforces in federal court education-related anti-discrimination statutes that prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, and disability. Students may refer to the Section's website at www.usdoj.gov/crt/edo/ to gather specific information on our enforcement authority, jurisdiction, and recent case activities.
Interns will be involved in various aspects of litigation, including assisting attorneys with discovery, drafting motions and briefs, and conducting legal research. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in civil rights issues and/or public interest law. The Section reviews applications and makes selections on a rolling basis, commencing approximately on the following dates:
