Statement of Ted Stevens
Hearing: Transportation Security Administration (TSA) FY 2009 Budget Oversight Hearing
Tuesday, May 13, 2008

We know the challenges of securing America’s vast transportation system and it will continue to grow, The role of TSA is often thankless and obstacle ridden.  We set forth an ambitious and demanding aviation and surface mode security schedule for TSA in last year’s 9/11 Act.  The proper implementation of those goals will make an efficient use of an always strained and stretched budget, even though we don’t expect it to be expanded too much this year. We do thank you again Mr. Chairman and I look forward to this hearing and the questions I have available to ask them today.  Thank you.
