H.R. 1309, the Freedom of Information Act Amendments of 2007, was introduced on March 5, 2007, by Rep. Wm. Lacy Clay. H.R. 1309 increases public access to government information by stengthening the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The House passed H.R. 1309 on March 14, 2007, by a vote of 308-117. A substantially similar bill, S. 2488, the OPEN Government Act of 2007, passed the House on December 18, 2007, was signed by the President on December 31, 2007, and became Public Law No: 110-175.
