Dingell on Proposed Fuel Economy Standards
Washington, D.C. – Rep. John D. Dingell (D-MI), the Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Commerce, issued the following statement regarding the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) proposed increase in fuel economy standards:
“The aggressive new fuel economy standards outlined today appear to be in line with what I envisioned as we negotiated this provision and ultimately passed landmark energy legislation last year.
“If the estimated fuel savings and carbon dioxide reductions contained in NHTSA’s proposal are accurate, then the proposed regulations would mark an important step towards ensuring our nation’s energy security.”
