Future Directions for the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data: Report of the Task Force, 1995The Bureau of Justice Statistics is developing a comprehensive strategy to address its data dissemination needs for the immediate future. Part of this planning focuses on the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD), which distributes public-use data files for BJS. New capabilities that enhance data access, retrieval, and dissemination capabilities are becoming available, and BJS wishes to investigate how these technologies might be utilized to improve the services it provides to users of criminal justice data. To this end, BJS empaneled a Task Force to provide an independent view of its efforts to disseminate data. The Task Force provided comments on how NACJD maintains and disseminates data, processes public use files, selects its holdings, and provides user services. In addition to these findings, this report provides background on the formation of the Task Force, meeting summaries, and a list of participants. 8/95 NCJ 154875 |
