Honors for EPA at Research Triangle Park, N.C.
This facility has received numerous honors. Many of these are related to our efforts to develop facilities and programs that support the health of people and the planet. Highlights:
- 2008
- Alfred P. Sloan Award- a 2nd time winner of this distinguished award proves EPA-RTP's commitment to workplace flexibility
- The Scientist Magazine has again named EPA-RTP as one of the top three Best Places to Work for Post-Doctoral Fellows, a national honor
- 2007
- The Federal Electronics Challenge- Bronze Award presented to EPA-RTP for decreasing the environmental impacts of electronics in one life-cycle phase

- 2006
- Carolina Parenting Magazine named EPA in their Top 40 Family Friendly Places to Work
- When Work Works Initiative - awarded the Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility, Alfred P. Sloan Award, to EPA - RTP
- The Scientist Magazine - has again named EPA-RTP as the Best Place to Work for Post-Doctoral Fellows, a national honor
- Alfred P. Sloan Award - presented for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility, distinguishing EPA-RTP as a leading practitioner of workplace flexibility in Durham and across the nation. Organizations are recognized for their dedication to making work “work” for both the employer and the employees. Representing employers of all sizes and all types, winners of this prestigious award not only offer excellent workplace flexibility practices, but they also use flexibility as a strategic business tool to enhance organizational effectiveness while also benefiting employees.

- Carolina Parenting Magazine named EPA in their Top 40 Family Friendly Places to Work
- U.S. Green Building Council - awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification to EPA's National Computer Center.
- The Scientist Magazine - named EPA-RTP the Best Place to Work for Post-Doctoral Fellows, a national honor.
- 2004
- Federal Occupational Health - named the Healthy Environments Fitness Center at EPA-RTP the Best Federal Fitness Program in the nation.
- The North Carolina Department of Transportation - named EPA-RTP as one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters in the Triangle Region.
- Carolina Parenting Magazine - named EPA in their Top 40 Family Friendly Places to Work.
- The U.S. Department of Energy -- recognized EPA-RTP with a Presidential Award for Leadership in Federal Energy Management for efforts in promoting and improving Federal energy management.
- 2002
- 2002 - U.S. General Services Administration -- presented EPA with the National Design Excellence Award for sustainable design of the RTP campus.
- 2001
- President George W. Bush - recognized the EPA-RTP campus project with his Closing the Circle Award for greening the government.
- U.S. General Services Administration - gave EPA their national, Planet GSA Demolition Derby Award for 90% construction waste recycling
- U.S. General Services Administration - presented their Model Sustainable Facility national environmental award.
- 2000
- Vice President Al Gore - through the National Partnership for Reinventing Government, presented EPA-RTP with the Hammer Award for sustainable design and construction innovations.
- The Council for Excellence in Government and the Ford Foundation - cited the EPA-RTP Campus as one of the100 top innovations in the country.
- 1998
- The International Green Building Challenge - recognized EPA's RTP campus as the top-rated project in the United States.
