Oil-for-Food Contract Release List - June 8

On June 8, 2001 the U.S. released its hold on an additional 51 contracts with a value of $85.6 million submitted under the United Nations Oil-for-Food program. The UN comm numbers for the contracts affected are listed below.

Please note that the U.S. action does not represent final approval of the contract by the United Nations. Other members of the UN Security Council's 661 committee may have a "hold" on the contract. When the UN approves a contract, it sends a letter so informing the permanent UN mission that submitted the contract. Please check the web site of the UN's Office of Iraq Program (www.un.org/depts/oip) regarding the current status of the contract. That web site may show the contract on hold until the Office of the Iraq Program updates it to reflect the U.S. action.
