Prevention of Child Abduction Partnership Act (Pub. L. No. 108-370)

On October 25, 2004, President Bush signed into law the Prevention of Child Abduction Partnership Act, which preempts state tort law by limiting the liability of private entities that operate under the direction of the State Department and work to prevent child abductions. Specifically, the Act amends the International Child Abduction Remedies Act to offer the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and other similar organizations the same protections given the State Department in child abduction cases.
