State Justice Statistics Program for Statistical Analysis Centers

This document is the program announcement for FY1997 which replaces the "State-Level Statistical Analysis Centers (SAC) and Information Network Program". Under this program, State designated Statistical Analysis Centers are eligible for funding. This new program seeks to respond to changes in the criminal justice policy environment and Federal funding initiatives, and will keep the States in the forefront of emerging issues. This will be accomplished by identifying every six months themes of significant concern to criminal justice practitioners, and asking a SAC to choose one or more of them for investigation and analysis. It is envisioned that at least one theme in each six-month cycle will provide a funding source which could result in an award in excess of the normal amount. In this first cycle, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention is providing funds for the study of (1) juveniles waived to adult courts and (2) the impact and influence of juvenile gangs on crime. The document contains information concerning applications for funding and special requirements. 12/96
