HR 819 Prevention First Act - To protect Women’s Health, preventing the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, and providing women with the tools they need to prevent unintended pregnancies.

HR 464 Compassionate Assistance for Rape Emergencies Act - To ensure that all hospitals that receive federal Medicare and Medicaid funding inform rape survivors of EC and provide medication upon request.

HR 97 Accountability and Transparency in Ethics Act - To call for greater accountability for spending on Iraq reconstruction and for the creation of a commission modeled after the Truman Commission during WWII.

 Transparency and Accountability in Security Contracting Act – To establish transparency requirements for PSCs to give info on the number of personnel they’re employing, their training protocol, and activities.  Requires contractors to receive rules of engagement, establish clear lines of communication, and extend Military Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Act to cover all PSCs, not just those contracted by DoD.

HR 1828 Teaching Fellows Act - To establish a national teaching fellowship program to encourage individuals to enter and remain in the field of teaching at public schools.

HR 1742 Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act - To reduce tax depreciation time on nonresidential real property from years to 5 years for those that install sprinklers.

HR 642 College Fire Prevention Act – To establish a demonstration incentive program within the Dept of Education to promote installation of fire sprinkler systems in student housing and dormitories.

HR 1142 Federal Firefighters Fairness Act – To establish “presumptive disability” law, which presumes that heart disease, lung disease, certain cancers and infectious diseases are job-related for the purpose of workers’ compensation and disability retirement, unless proven otherwise.

HR 197 To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide a 5-year extension of the credit for electricity produced from certain renewable resources.

HR 985 The Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act - To strengthen the protections for federal whistleblowers who report waste, fraud, and abuse.

Gun Control

HR 1022 Assault Weapons Ban and Law Enforcement Protection Act - To reinstate the assault weapons ban that increased public safety and kept guns away from criminals.  It also adds to the 109th bill (HR 1312) by including a provision that makes it difficult for individuals to purchase or sell parts of semi-automatic weapons.

Health Care

HR 758 The Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act - To require that health plans provide coverage for a minimum hospital stay for mastectomies, lumpectomies, and lymph node dissection for the treatment of breast cancer and coverage for secondary consultations.

 Physical Therapist Student Loan Repayment Eligibility Act -  To add physical therapists as eligible professionals for the National Health Services Corp’s student loan repayment plan.  It will enable physical therapists to reach underserved communities, by addressing the debt load of PT students.

 The Home Oxygen Protection Act - To protect the nearly one million oxygen patients in the Medicare program, by repealing the change in Medicare policy for oxygen therapy enacted in the DRA that requires these beneficiaries to own the complex oxygen equipment.
