Washington, D.C., Sep 17 -

This week, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann helped pass a bill she co-sponsored with Minnesota’s Congressional Delegation to rename a North St. Paul post office after the town’s beloved eight-term mayor, Bill Sandberg, who died of leukemia earlier this year.  The newly named “Mayor William ‘Bill’ Sandberg Post Office Building,” is located on 2523 7th Avenue East in North Saint Paul.

Bachmann made the following statement after the bill passed:

“Mayor Bill Sandberg exemplified what it means to be a public servant: he was humble, dedicated and unflinching in his desire to do his best for the people of North St. Paul.  Bill was known for being able to work with people of all positions and get difficult things done.  He had a reputation as a family man who shared his warmth and goodness with everyone he met.  He has left a permanent mark on his community, and his absence will be felt by many.  Hopefully this post office will serve as a small reminder of who he was and what he stood for.”
