EDSITEment Highlights Picturing America as a Source for K - 12 Teachers

EDSITEment is very pleased to showcase Picturing America, part of the We the People program of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Picturing America is a free educational resource that helps teach American history and culture by bringing some of our nation's greatest works of art directly to classrooms and libraries. In June, the NEH awarded Picturing America to over 26,000 schools and public libraries nationwide.

In the coming year EDSITEment will provide new lesson plans and update existing ones as well as offer an extensive list of reviewed digital links to help teachers integrate Picturing America images in their classrooms.

The Endowment has announced its second round of applications for Picturing America for the 2008 - 2009 school year. Interested schools and public libraries should submit an application by October 31, 2008 for receipt of the materials in spring 2009. A detailed description of Picturing America materials and instructions for submitting an application can be found in the 'Apply Now' section of the Picturing America Web site, PicturingAmerica.neh.gov. Applications will be accepted online through October 31, 2008.
