Products are disseminated internally and to policymakers throughout the federal government, including the President of the United States.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field. Candidates must be detail-oriented and able to work effectively in a fast-paced teamwork environment in order to meet customer deadlines. They must possess comprehensive knowledge of grammar and punctuation. CIA is currently hiring for Entry and Developmental levels:

Throughout these levels of progression, Publications Officers will have the opportunity to participate in training available internally or through external classes, workshops, seminars, and conferences.

All applicants must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological exam, a polygraph interview and an extensive background investigation. US citizenship is required.

To be considered suitable for Agency employment, applicants must generally not have used illegal drugs within the last twelve months. The issue of illegal drug use prior to twelve months ago is carefully evaluated during the medical and security processing.
