Veterans' Affairs

Our veterans are America’s bravest heroes.  Support for our veterans must always be an American issue and never a partisan issue, as our nation’s veterans have defended all of our rights as American citizens.

Since taking office as your Representative, I’ve heard from many veterans in the 29th District who have expressed their frustration with veterans’ health care funding.  Our veterans have served our country honorably and they have put themselves on the line for a noble cause.  Therefore, we have an obligation to provide our veterans with the best available medical care and benefits.  Mandating funding for veterans’ health care would put an end to the year-to-year uncertainty that prevents the Department of Veterans’ Affairs from being able to meet the growing needs of veterans seeking treatment.

Therefore, I introduced the Mandatory Funding for Veterans Act of 2007, which would provide for an assured adequate level of funding for veterans’ health care, making health care funding for our veterans mandatory every year.  We all owe a debt of gratitude to our country’s bravest individuals, and I will do all I can to see that Congress gives this measure the attention it deserves.
