Homeland Security Committee Nominates Subcommittee Chairs


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Thursday, January 18, 2007

Today, the following subcommittee chairmen for the six subcommittees of the Committee on Homeland Security have been nominated by the Committee’s Democratic Caucus for the 110th Congress. Pursuant to Rule 28(B) of the House Democratic Caucus, the selection of Chairman for the Committee is subject to approval by both the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee and the full House Democratic Caucus.

Once the subcommittee chairmen are formally approved by the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee and the House Democratic Caucus, the list of subcommittee chairmen and subcommittee members will be offered as a resolution when the Committee on Homeland Security holds its organizational meeting for the 110th Congress:

Subcommittee on Border, Maritime and Global Counterterrorism
Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-CA)

Subcommittee on Intelligence, Information Sharing and Terrorism Risk Assessment
Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA)

Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection
Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX)

Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity, and Science and Technology
Rep. James R. Langevin (D-RI)

Subcommittee on Emergency Communications, Preparedness, and Response
Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX)

Subcommittee on Management, Investigations, and Oversight
Rep. Christopher P. Carney (D-PA)
