Dreier Announces Congressional Art Contest Winners

April 29, 2008

SAN DIMAS, CA - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA) has announced the winners of his annual Congressional District Art Contest.  The Contest is part of a national art competition for high school students conducted by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives.  Dreier recently met with the winners at his office to congratulate them for their efforts.

“Meeting these young artists and being able to display their work is a real honor,” Dreier said.  “This year’s winners have produced outstanding pieces.  The Foothills should be proud of these budding artists.”

The Congressional District Art Contest is designed to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of high school students.  Each Congressional district hosts their own competition.  This year’s winner is 14 year old Kun Woo Lee who attends Claremont High School.  His color pencil drawing titled “Apples” will be a part of a display in the U.S. Capitol for the next year.  Kun Woo will also be attending a reception in Washington, D.C. honoring the winning artists from across the country.  This year’s runner up is 16 year old Jenni Putnam who attends Etiwanda High School.  Her acrylic painting titled “Deerbrook” will hang in the lobby of Dreier’s San Dimas office for the next year.
