BOSTON – Senator John Kerry today praised Boston College Men’s ice hockey team on winning the 2008 NCAA Division I National Ice Hockey Championship. Kerry, along with his colleague Senator Edward Kennedy, today also introduced a resolution in the Senate, honoring the team. “As a proud alum of The Heights, who spent many a night at the old McHugh Rink, I am thrilled to congratulate Coach Jerry York, Captains Mike Brennan, Dan Bertram and Matt Greene and the all the Eagles on winning the 2008 NCAA Hockey Championship,” said Senator Kerry. “The Eagles’ opponents had to pick their poison- focus on slowing down Nathan Gerbe and BC’s explosive offense or spend all night getting slammed into the boards by BC’s defensemen knowing that in the end they were just going to get denied by John Muse. There’s no question that the best team in America, unmatched in its depth and skill blue line to blue line, is Jerry York’s and I can’t wait to see the 2008 Championship banner raised to the rafters at Conte.” ###
